Website Hosting Guide

Website Hosting. Who Has the Best Web Hosting Plans?

Don’t sign up for a website hosting plan until you read this straightforward guide.

Website Hosting GuideMy name is Jonathan and I want to tell you about my web hosting experiences. You are probably as confused as I was when I started shopping for a hosting package. This guide is written for anyone looking to set up a simple personal or small business website. If you are looking for more advance information, use the search button on this site to find what you are looking for.

Now you may already have a domain name, but You need a place to store and broadcast the information, this is where a hosting package comes in. Think of it as you have a computer, but you need a signal to get to the internet. Typically domain names are registered for a 1 year period, whereas many hosting plans give you the option to subscribe for one month periods. Most hosting companies will offer a discount if you get a 1 year subscription

With so many website hosting options, making a decision can seem overwhelming.

There are four main criteria that are important when selecting a basic hosting package. They are customer service, functionality, ease of use and price.

Selecting a Hosting Plan

If you are new to website hosting, the most important thing to look for in a hosting company is their customer service. You want to be with a hosting company that is available twenty four hours a day in case there is an emergency. You also want to tap into their experience and advice to help guide you through the set up process. How do you know if the hosting company you are talking to is credible. Their website should look professional. They should have a customer support number on the first page of their website. When you call that number, you are able to reach a real person.

Obviously functionality is important and you need a provider that is going to get the job done. What the average person or small business owner needs is not very demanding. You probably need the smallest hosting package the provider offers. At a bare minimum you should have 10GB storage space, unlimited bandwidth, and at least 1 MySQL database. Bandwidth is the amount of data you can send and receive. If for some reason you outgrow that plan, there is probably a deluxe plan that can be added with the click of a mouse for only a couple more dollars per month. Don’t worry too much about the other features or plan details as they are fairly similar amongst hosting companies.

If you are a newbie, you want a company that can help you with the set up and make it easy. It should not be difficult to login into your hosting account to make changes. Many providers will have a control panel or dashboard system. If it’s your first time through, it shouldn’t take longer than fifteen minutes to get your hosting up and running. If you are paying more than $10 per month for a basic hosting plan you are paying too much. Price is important, but it shouldn’t be the most important factor. Look for the other good qualities in a company which are customer service, functionality and ease of use.

Save Money with This Little Known Tip

Few people actually take advantage of this. Hosting companies always offer a special promotion. If you do a search on this website or in a search engine, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a coupon for most hosting companies. In fact, I’ll give you one a little farther down. And if you still can’t find one, call the company and ask if they will you give you a discount if you join today.

Web Hosting Recommendations

All this technology can be a little intimidating at first, but it’s a pretty quick and simple process. There are two companies that I recommend for website hosting. In fact this website actually uses them both. Let me tell you more.

Almost everyone has heard of the company GoDaddy, you may have seen their Super Bowl advertisements. GoDaddy is probably the largest domain registrar and hosting company in the world. What does this mean for you? That means there is going to be plenty of support, hosting plans with the functions you need and the ability to host your domain name at the same place you bought it. This website’s domain name is registered with GoDaddy. What I like about GoDaddy is they have an organized system that is easy to navigate at an affordable price. Their basic economy plan is more than enough for most personal and small business websites.

The second company that I highly recommend  is HostGator. They offer all the same features as GoDaddy and their support is also top notch. In my experience, I’ve found that HostGator updates their software more frequently, so your website is always running on the latest technology. This makes your website load faster, run smoother and allows you or your webmaster to install some custom features that the first company will simply not allow. This website is hosted with HostGator because it requires large amounts of disk space, uses a lot of bandwidth and the current plan allows me host an unlimited number of domains and websites on the same plan.

The best HostGator coupon I could find is COUPON CODE: JURY which gives you your first month’s hosting for a penny.

Now that you know much more about website hosting, you can feel comfortable taking the next step. Be sure to use any coupons you find right away, because you never know when they are going to expire.
